And it continues...

My husband bought himself a second hand 147 Ti (don't know if they exist in Britain) in excellent condition and very low mileage. Only problem is it's the same red as my Alfa 147.
But that's not why I'm writing, but to show you what happened when we hit a fox on our way down to Bordeaux. We must be unlucky with Alfas because my 2 month old car was hit by someone (who didn't leave a name) and my huband has had his car 3 months.
Is this fate?....

Ouch. That will be repairable for sure. Don't you have those SMART repairers like Chips Away in France??

Looks that way. New bumper methinks.

At least it's a reasonably newish car. The rosso red should be easier to match.

My dad hit a fox on the M18 a few years back. It went through the bumper, radiator, intercooler and aircon radiator and then just for a finishing touch took the wheel arch liner with him on the way out!

Before we banned foxhunting in England we used horses.

Seriously - bad luck - "luckily" it seems "only" to be the bumper.

New Honeycombed plastic grill, front spoiler, unless you have plastic welding facilities. Watch out that radiator doesn't get holed in the meantime.:

Seriously get some estimates etc as your lower front panel could be distorted with a possibilty of more.
The bumper absorbs a lot of the impact but transfers the force through the mountings and chassis legs.
A customer of mine hit a fox in his 156 and the result was over 1800
to repair.

Bloody hell!

That fox knew he was going to die, and intended to take out as much as possible before he did. You've got to give it respect for that

Re: And it continues...

I once ran over an aardvark in the Southern United States in a rental chevbuicfordGM car , still my most bizarre accident. Made a hellish noise but incredibly no damage at all. Obviously the shells aren't that hard....

I always quote it on insurance forms just to confuse the brokers.

Re: And it continues...

Thank you for all your messages of support and thank God it wasn't as bad as some people's adventures. Hubby's insured with Alfa so there's no excess if the damage was done by an animal. But how to prove it? Well, when I took it to get inspected by the assessor he found stiff, reddish brown hair in the grill. Saved! Fortunately, it's just the bumper that needs to be replaced.
Merci encore pour vos messages de soutien (well done with the French, Commanderfish).
Wish I could find it again, but I saw a photo on the Internet of a fox (or the remains of) crammed into the engine. I think it was in a BMW. We got off lightly...
