Steering Wheel problems

I am a new member in the forum although I posses Alfa's for 12 years (an 146 for 11 years and one 147 for 1 year).
I am writing because I have problem with my 147's steering wheel. The problem is that there is something inside the steering wheel (back from the horn button) and a little noise is produced when I turn the wheel left or right. Probably something has broken, or inserted by the gap that exists between the horn cover and the back of the steering wheel. Do you have any idea of how to remove the front cover of the wheel and to remove the annoying thing inside my wheel. Can I do it alone or there is possibility to cause damage to the airbag inside it?
Thanks a lot!
All of us we are lucky because we drive Alfa!

Re: Steering Wheel problems

I wouldn't do it by myself because of the airbag. Take it to a specialist.

Re: Steering Wheel problems

disconnect the battery
wait 15mins
remove the 2 allen bolts holding the airbag to the steering wheel
pull airbag towards you to remove it

make sure everything is refitted before you reconnect the battery, this is important if you want to avoid triggering an airbag system fault.
