God what have I done?!

Im so depressed!!! My much loved GTV was giving me so much heartache with problem after problem I thought sod it im selling the bloody thing and getting something reliable.
Ive just come back with 51plate celica 190bhp jobbie, nice, super quick and looks good. Problem is Ive just picked the GTV up and drove it back home from where I left it and although its slower, older, uses more fuel and is generally not a patch on the jap job I thought the GTV wins hands down. The celica engine sounds like a nissan micra at any revs and is so bland and the Alfa has just got pure soul.
My problem is I need a reliable car as I do lots of miles and I know my GTV will let me down when I need it most.
Oh what to do????

Re: God what have I done?!

Buy another GTV, one with a good history? Ive done 10k miles in my Spider, apart from a service and a bit I spent on the aircon, which I knew when I bought it, its just been brakes for the MOT oh and a ABS sensor. Its not all bad!!

What's wrong with the GTV? Sounds like it just needs a proper fixing.

Re: God what have I done?!

I agree, all the Jap stuff I've driven has got no soul.
Either sort the GTV, or if your wanting a bit more practicallity how about a 156? I'm stunned by how much I'm loving mine, it really is a great drive

Re: God what have I done?!

Don't go thinking the Celica will be reliable.. There is a serious flaw in the design of the 190 bhp version in the variable valve lift system. My cousin also managed to blow the engine on his 140bhp version..

Get yourself another reliable GTV.

Re: God what have I done?!

Celica's are all well and good but within a month of my friend having one he has had to replace a front spring, big aircon pipe, pins for the lifters? (quite labour intensive), something with the alarm, and im sure there was something else.

We all complain about Alfa's in some way, but go to any other forum for various makes, and they are all the same.

Was recently looking at a Passat forum (for family member I might add), and some of the problems are scary!

Re: God what have I done?!

I had a 140bhp Celica for 4 years and never had a problem with it (apart from the gas leaking from the tailgate struts which was fixed under warranty). I really liked it but eventually I grew bored of it as it didn't ever perform like it looked like it should.
