159 SW Ti - After two months

Well, it's time for some evaluation after 2 great months with my Ti.

I could write a lot about all the positive sides, but I think I will say it short:

This is a car unlike all others! This is the best driving, best looking car I've ever had!

I still feel like collecting a new car everytime when I'm going to my garage, I'm allways smiling when driving and I'm allways looking over my shoulder after parking. It's really a joy, and I love this car

However, some details could have been better in my opinion:

- I would like to have the possibility to have the seat 2 - 3 cm lower, still feeling I'm sitting a little to high (I'm 183cm)
- The cruise control-stalk is to low - it touches my knee when driving
- The seatwarmer-knobs are placed absolutely wrong. Should have been between the seats/on the dashboard/on the climate control board.
- Some rattles in the dashboard area shouldn't be an issue in a car like this.
- Automatic mirrors folding when stopping the car.
- I would have liked some discrete mudguards for the Ti
- Weak seatwarmers, the seats don't get warm fast enough
- A fully electric operational tailgate would have been fine. Now I allways get dirty when opening it.
- I would like to have the multi function display in coulor/high resolution
- Some B&M details could have been better (starting on high volume, starting with media player on, better "iPod-like" browsing, direct access to media player, I don't like the swamp feel of the controls)
- And Yes: A Norwegian B&M-lady voice

I must say this is just details. Don't misunderstand me. This car is just fantastic, and I think most car have some details which could have been better.

Hi, Thanks for the review, been driving my Ti for about one month, also have the annoying rattles on the windscreen was fixed with some silcone spray, plus have some minor glitches with my B&M, otherwise a great car
Never tried the seat warmer though, is summer down here...

The seat heaters are fine on mine but it's a lot warmer over here than where you are. Seats are fine too. Driving position perfect. I'm 5'10" so probably shorter than you.

You can get mudguards from the accessories catalogue but not sure if they'll fit the Ti with the skirts

Cheers,

I was initially touching the cruise stalks too but then adjusted the seat away (mainly lower) without much problem.

Thanks for Your comments!

About the mudguards: I've tried the originals, but they don't fit the Ti.

I've also cracked the windshield, will replace it when the Car Glass shop get a new one from Italy. Hopefully it will help on the rattle. Anyway - the Bose sounds sooo good it's not a major issue

Don't have BOSE in the 159 but the standard stereo is excellent BOSE in the GT - sounds like a boy racers car

Re: 159 SW Ti - After two months

I think there's a way to turn off the "media player always comes on" option, but I can't find it in the menus or manual - I'm sure I read about it here somewhere though but can't find the post now. Anybody know how please?

Yes. I've seen it, but haven't tried it yet. As I remember, it was a long procedure... Will try it soon!

Re: 159 SW Ti - After two months

Frode, Fully agree, 159 a stiunning looker possibly best looking Alfa saloon ever!!!! Got a 2.2JTS in June 07 and its a car you look forward to washing and waxin!!! Fully agree seats should do with going just a little lower and Cruise Control stalk not in the best position. Windsreen "creaking" is really rellay annoying and should not happen on such an expensive car. From the posts on forum I think its an easy enough fix but I'll leave it to the dealer at the first service. New 2.2JTS engine is a gem at the high end of the rev range it sounds superb.

I think to stop the Media Player to auto start click on the voice rec. and say stop while the Media Player is playing.
Also there is an auto start function in media player setting you can set.
But my B&M system are a bit nuts, so it sometimes work and sometimes don't on mine....

Re: 159 SW Ti - After two months

Perhaps the cruise stalk issue is unique to LHD models, as are comments relating to the position of the fog light switches

Sat in mine today and I can't see how I could get my knee to foul the CC stalk unless I was sitting very forward & really hight up

What's 183cm in propper money??

The fog lights are a PITA !

Never seen a problem with the cruise though.

In proper money?? For me, nothing is more proper than the metric system

Well, 183 cm is nearly exact 6 ft.

I'm not sitting very forward, in fact I have to move my seat forward when I have passengers in the back seat. The cruise stalk is on the left side. But, as I said, it's not a big issue, but I'm glad I'm not 190 cm (sorry, that's another 2,75 inch )
