Which Breakdown Service?

Well I've finally decided to use my 156 for work and to take the cash on offer instead of taking the company car option. The plan is to wait until the 159 is revised with more power and less weight then opt back in as I can at any time.

As my warranty has expired I need to get breakdown assistance. So are there any views on which is the best to use; not that I'd ever be using them of course.

What makes you think you'll break down?

Re: Which Breakdown Service?

There are cheaper options...but if you want the reassurance of a brand name, and a cheap warranty option...look no further than AA cover.

Get whatever breakdown cover you want, then go for this

Breakdown Repair Cover : replacement parts and labour - The AA

Only £65, and from past experience with my first Alfa JTD, it is very good!, saves me nearly £1k (with 2 claims)

Re: Which Breakdown Service?

I have been a member of the big 2 for nearly 12 yr

Most with the AA,always been on time and had good service, only went with RAC coz they were doing a very good new customer discount.

IMHO stick with the main ones, you get what you pay for,i have heard some horror stories about the small operators!

I don't, just think of it as insurance; think M1, M3, M6, M40, M42, Dartford Crossing. A breakdown or accident would be mega expensive.

Re: Which Breakdown Service?

It might pay to check with your insurer. I got mine for a year with Euro cover for around 65. The AA wanted more than that for 3 weeks abroad. That said if you arent going abroad then no worries

Auto-aid hands down (for me anyway):

Full cover of the biggies for 36 quid. Only catch is you have to pay out and then claim back. They bank on laziness so if you are good about getting forms back it is an absolute bargain and the service is excellent.

Check here for a full review of them all: Breakdown cover: Get the cheapest roadside recovery policies...

Auto-aid site: Auto Aid - Breakdown Cover the economical way

I have nothing to do with them. Just like a good deal when I see one!

I use the RAC, because my one and only experience with the AA was a [censored] nightmare.

RAC have been fantastic whenever I've needed them

Re: Which Breakdown Service?

I pay £130 a year for AA family membership, personal cover that means we are all covered for £35 each what ever we are driving, including my bikes!
