Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

I knew that Lancia were coming back to the UK (October 24th I think), but is this true they will be selling out of Alfa Romeo dealerships?! Has anybody else heard this?

They will never have the rally heriatage feel again, which is a shame.

Re: Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

I was a Lancia man until they pulled out of the UK - Delta 1500, Beta 2000, Prisma 1600 and Dedra 2000. I bought my first Alfa (164) in 1998 when the Dedra was getting tired - Lancias were few and far between. I agrre that the new Lancias are not that tempting but this may change - Will I go back?

My brother like me owned Lancias also - Thema 8v Turbo, Integrale 8v, Integrale 16v, Montecarlo 2000. A great heritage but all a bit dull at present, it would seem!

I remember in 1999 i went to Auto Italia with my new 145 cloverleaf and saw an brand new (import) Delta HPE turbo and felt if only Lancia hadnt pulled out of the UK i would have gone for one of those instead.

Re: Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

They will probably have GM based engines, except for the diesels. I am not a big fan of the looks of the new Lancia's, but being ugly doesn't stop BMW's selling does it..

Re: Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

It would seem logical to sell Lancia through Alfa dealerships.I heard they may also be sold through Fiat showrooms, but in my opinion this would cheapen the brand. The cost of setting up an entirely new dealer network would be prohibitive,so the obvious answer is to make use of "sister" Alfa dealerships.Unfortunately in Northern Ireland we presently have only one Alfa dealer,so we would only have one Lancia dealer too

Re: Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

Selling Lancias in Alfa dealerships will dilute the Alfa brand IMO. They are all pig ugly and really don't match the Alfa style or ethos.

Cheers,

Nigel

Apparently Lancia are to Italians what Rover is to the Brits. Very common and nothing special.

Re: Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

A few years ago I thought they had gone bust until I was in Italy with work stood in the airport carpark at Traviso airport (think of a small village style airport! Thank you Ryan Air) and the carpark was rammed full of Lanciers!

Re: Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

there are 4 choices:

1. dont sell them
2. sell them at fiat dealerships
3. sell them at alfa dealerships
4. set up a lancia dealer network

choice 4 would cost more money than fiat could even borrow so it isnt going to happen. choice 3 will restrict supply as badly as it does for alfa and may damage alfa sales and branding, choice 4 will not give lancia the sporty image they want, so in my opinion it will be choice 1, probably resulting from a failed attempt at choices 2&3.

in an ideal world every dealership would be a fiat s.p.a. dealership selling all the fiat s.p.a. brands. branding doesnt rely on seperate facilities, you can still differentiate within the same building.

It would be most logical for them to use the Fiat dealerships, given there are probably more than Alfas.

Are they?

Re: Lancia In Alfa Romeo Dealerships?

Well I can't really see them investing in a whole dealership structure, so I imagine they will be sold through the new, revamped Alfa chain. I certainly hope so as my Alfa dealer is a five minute drive away and I adore Lancias.

As much as I love my GT, I'm really a Lancia man at heart and would love to see them back, although I don't suppose they ( or anybody else) will ever make something as stunningly beautiful as a Gamma Coupe...

FIAT are aiming Lancia at the luxury market and dont want to give Lancia a sporty image, therefore not stepping on Alfa's toes.
I think Alfa and Lancia will compliment each other.
Im a Lancia man at heart and although luxury is not my thing I hope they will succeed.

Western Europe sales figures for Alfa and Lancia. January to December 2007:

Lancia : 122,054 (up 4.8% from 2006)
Alfa: 144,247 (down 0.8% from 2006)

Lancia are really not that far behind
