Wave AutoItalia Readers letters

In the latest edition (Jan / Feb 2008), on page 8, Readers Letters, theres a letter entitled Alfa GT Facelift scoop and it shows the GT with the latest 159/Brera front end Looks awesome The quote from Alfa states that it has no plans of bringing it to the UK

Why not

Can anyone get an electronic picture of this so the non-AI readers / subscribers can see what I'm on about?

Cheers,

***I think i just wet myself***

The alfa GT, my most favorite car at the moment and the one car that I aspire to own in the next 3 years. Given a facelift like that!!! Sholy hit, i am in heaven.

Sorry. Got a little excited there.

I don't know which one i like more. I shall just have to get both.

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

Hmmm looks good but looks like a photoshop job to me - unless Alfa displayed it at a motor show and left that AI reader to announce it to the world!

There's no game plan to facelift the GT further is there?

imho if they gave it this look there would be too little variation in the range, although don't get me wrong I would be delighted to have one

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

Definitely looks lovely, but why would they facelift a car on the old chassis that takes the old engines? It's already weird enough that they sell both the GT and the Brera at the same time.
If that's a real facelift, I want to see what they did with the back of the car cos I think that's the bit that needs fixing.

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

That's nuts. I was only thinking yesterday why don't they give the GT a new front end. They've done it ith the 147 so it makes sense

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

unfortunately there are no facelifts up and coming for the GT, as i am sure all you alfa lovers already know. Sat 19 and sun 20 jan here in Italy Alfaromeo dealers have been open all day long for the presentation of the "new" GT sport and Quadrifolio versions, the sport replacing the blackline and the quadrifolio with Q2 and taking the mj diesel upto 170bh.
The plant where they build and assemble GT, 147 and 159 at Pomigliano (NA) has been shut down and is undergoing an upgrade for better production machinery along with a 2 month (much needed) personnel training course, so Hopefully ( fingers crossed) in theory we alfa lovers should find a better built/assembled, more reliable motor, with the usual sex appeal alfas have.

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

Unfortunately as Timinho suggested, this isn't an Alfa Picture. It was doing the rounds over a year ago when the 2007 model Year was announced and Alfa told us that the GT wouldn't be getting the lights as per the 159, It is indeed photoshop. Shame though as it does look the business.

Thanks for clarifying, I still have to wonder how much work and it would take to get a GT looking like that.

Hey Ace, that doesn't sound as confident as I hoped it would. Can you tell us a little more on what the general feeling in NA is about the outcome of the shutdown?

PS still prefer that current GT front end though (as I do the pre-facelift 147)

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

well, from what i have heard and read on other italian online alfa forums is that Fiat big wig manager (marchionne) has been having some problems with the reluctance of workers to attend and better their skills on the assembly lines whilst attempting to introduce a more disciplined work environment, all this in aid of a better final product ..as it is well known that assembly work and final details on the 147's and GT's fall short in that area, partly due to the old production lines and lack of pride taken ( not by all) workers but the so called trouble makers. southern italy is a very particular work area to be in.
i am hopefully that quality should improve when productions kicks off again.

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

I'm glad it's not real, personally speaking, as it would be yet another Alfa that would look the same from the front after the 159 had the Brera nose-job. I agree, looks fantastic, but zero points for originality.

Re: AutoItalia Readers letters

They'd never sell the Brera if the GT looked like that!!

I heard the GT will be the next Alfa to be discontinued, as production line space is needed for the Junior, 149 and 169.
