Re: Heater problems HELP PLEASE !
Well..if you've just bought it from a dealership (you don't say exactly where you got it) then it doesn't matter a hoot if its a main dealer or not..its got a warranty that it works..and it doesn't.
My advice is to take it straight back to them, tell them the fault was there when you bought it. No matter what they say they ARE liable. If they argue..then put it in writing..This is evidence you may need later if it gets sticky (hopefully not) Ask any trading standards office or Citizens advice.
Assuming you get somewhere with them it needs checking out by someone who knows Alfas, not by anyone 'having a go' at fixing it, who will only make it worse, so you need either a main dealer diagnosis (they have a system called 'Examiner Smart' which can trace many sorts of fault) They charge about £70 just to do a test. Or a good independent (who may also have 'examiner'..mine in Lincoln does, but many do not) who charge less.(a lot less usually)
W. Yorks is a big place (I was born in Huddersfield..gawd bless me)..so tell us where you are and we can direct you to an Alfa mechanic you can hopefully trust. They are worth their weight in gold..Theres's a list on the site somewhere.
The GT is a great car, but you need it right from day one. Don't forget to check the oil every week if you are new to Alfas. The diesels tend not to use it, but don't be complacent.
A good independent will look the car over for you and give you an inevitable 'to do' list, but unlike main dealers who may possibly fleece you, a good independent will help you prioritise any work so you can spread the cost accordingly.
Hope this helps
