Moaning Need some help sadly the alfa has to go

Hi everyone

This is a very sad time for me at the moment I`m having to sell me alfa due to my kids are getting bigger and due to me and the missus being tall it has to go.

The thing is i don`t know what these go

It`s a 156 saloon 1800 turismo with nearly 69k on the clock the coulour is a pale blue with part history
a big service inc belts/variator and the water pump has been done.

any ideas has my missus has been to look at mpvs because of more space plus shes wanting another sounding of tiny feet if you get my drift.

any advice will be appreciated and gretafully reicieved on this sad day has i`ve become attached and fond of my alfie

My advice would be to get a shorter wife.

The 166 is a bigger car? Would that be of interest?

And a vasectomy.

Tell her you'll go to a 166 but you sure as hell ain't driving around in a van.
If she loves you she'll understand.

Sell the kids for money and buy a Spider. She can't complain about height when the roof is down!

No seriously though, Have you not considered the 156 Sportwagon or the newer 159 Sportwagon? Loads of space but a hell of a lot more fun to drive than one of those parents' taxi MPVs or expensive Chelsea tractors.

As for value of your 156, depends on year and condition, try looking it up here:

Used Prices - Parker's
Or here:
Glass's Used Car Prices, Vehicle Valuations, Motorbike Prices

Each should give you basic info for free. Worth buying the latest paper copy from a newsagent of you are buying and selling imminently.

Good luck!

I had a 156 Saloon but changed to 156 Spotwagon (as boot is very small in saloon), I have now got a 166 - Loads of space, you know it makes sense!

don't want an argument, but why do people quote parkers guide, nobody knows who parker is an it is not recognised in the trade and whether people like it or not that's what counts
cap and glasses are the bible of the trade and therefore reflect the true prices if you take 2 things into account
1)you know how to read them
2)(important one this) their GUIDES

sorry rant over as you were

Oh hell no. Not another bloody van with windows on the road.
These things are nothing more than a triumph of marketing over reality. They only offer more room in an upward direction. Great if you want to be decapitated by your luggage under braking. They don't offer anything a decent estate car doesn't and drive just as $hite as they look IMHO. Sorry to pi$h on your parade, but a MAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSIVE retrograde step . . . . . . . .

Parkers never seems to give out accurate prices.

My advice would be to check out Autotrader and see what people are pricing them at, that's the only real accurate guide.

True, but the newer facelift isn't so bad, and you get a car with 6 seats that does actually drive like a car not a van.

Other than that, how about a 156 sportwagon? wont help on the height issue but will have room for a buggy or two in the boot.
