Aarrrgghh...who rejected their new car on here?

I'm close to having had enough!

For the 5th time yesterday my engine warning light cam on an the car went into limp mode.I 'assumed' it was the DPF again. Since I was driving from Bournemouth to Swindon I had no choice but to just drive on. I'm seriously fed up. I now have to organise to get over to the dealer YET AGAIN to get them to turn the thing off and tell me that they have told Alfa and there is nothing more they can do.

I can't use my car half the time! I've only done a 1000 miles!

I know someone rejected their 159 on here and I wondered what happend and how you went about doing that?

If it's on finance you'll have a much bigger club to hit the dealer with. Under the consumer credit act or something like that you can phone the finance co and tell them you will not be paying another payment until the car is rectified. Watch the dealer leap into action then!

In order to reject the car you will need to return to the supplying dealer, if bought through an internet broker or whatever you will need to go back to them (good luck if this is the case, you'll need it).

Paid cash and the dealer is about 400 miles away. Not a good start

Have you tried writing them a strongly worded letter telling them you believe the car is not fit for purpose.

Maybe then try trading standards and contacting watchdog.

I have done in the past. Call that Consumer Direct service (08454 04 05 06 I think). In my experience they are very good and will till you exactly what to do to get a result. Hope that helps.

Thanks to David from Piccadilly for contacting me about this. His customer service really is second to none. I just feel it shouldn't be his issue as the local dealer should be able to sort it. But thanks anyway David!

I seem to remember reading somewhere in the past that in cases like this you should get an independant motor vehicle assessor to assess the vehicle and write a report backing you up.

Consumer Direct should be able to point you in the direction of one of these.

Best of luck.
