Goodbye cav ............ hello 156

Life begins at 44.

Just put deposit on '05 156 2.0 JTS Lusso in metallic grey (will learn alfa colour eventually) with black leather interior & multi-spoke wheels. It's got 22k on the clock & was registered by a local woman. The (very reputable -for 34 yrs) dealer has agreed to a service including cam belt change, & it comes with a 3 mth warranty with everything covered.

Tired '94 diesel cavalier has blown it's last smoke. I was looking for a replacement, something with 5 full seats but couldn't face a run-of-the-mill family car.

I'm collecting the car on Friday ......... just gotta tak cav to breakers

Shall have to buy one of those ultimate driving cd's

That sounds like a very nice car indeed.

It's absolutely essential that the dealer replaces the tensioners as well as the belts. Which dealer are you buying the car from?

Re: Goodbye cav ............ hello 156

Thanks Roswell,

dealer is Cleveland Car Sales in East Yorks. had a car from them before, when the exhaust started to blow I took it back to ask if they could recommend a exhaust centre, they told me to take it to the centre they used & got them to fit it for free, seems it worked as I remembered this when the 156 was advertised.
Have searched the t'internet for cars for sale but couldn't find anything that fitted the bill.

Right I'm back, after trying to beat a 9 year old at golf on the WII.

Shall be ringing tomorrow to check that the full cambelt kit will be fitted.

I got my 'Wii age' down to 28 this afternoon!

Your car will definitely need a cam belt, cam belt tensioner, idler, balancer shaft belt and balancer shaft tensioner.

I had my car done when it was three years old in November although it had only covered 23,000 miles.

I had planned to have a new water pump fitted as the belts need to come off anyway. It turned out that the water pump had a small pin hole in the seal and needed replacing anyway.
