Selling the car.

I was thinking of selling my 147 1.6 Lusso. I was just wondering though, I had a new engine put in 7 months ago due to me 'allegedly' going 120mph on the motorway, and blowing up the engine.

Would the fact that I got a new engine in bump up the price?

Re: Selling the car.

Not sure. I personally would tend to see a new engine as a negative thing as the car could have had a chequered history. Good luck though. If you are honest with the buyer and give them a big wad of service receipts i'm sure you should meet list prices. Let us know how you get on

Nope, not a chance matey. I reckon people would be more inclined to stay away from it

I know I walked away from an otherwise lovely 2.5 V6 156 because it had been through a full engine rebuild, with no real explanation for the cause of the rebuild. Most people I think will do the same.

Iíve got to agree, if I was looking I would just turn the page, screen or what ever advertising material I was reading if it said New Engine.

I would constantly be thinking WHY

Re: Selling the car.

When I was looking anytime I read about a new engine or a rebuild I didn't look any further. It certainly put me off.

Don't worry though, as there are people out there who will buy the car regardless, as long as everything's above board you'll sell it, however it will affect the price but not positively.

Re: Selling the car.

True true.

I dont think ill bother then. To me, a new engine is better than a six year old one, so Ill keep the car till its dead. I just got a new battery, and will be getting a new set of wheels aswell.

I've also got the warrantee renewed for three years, so that covers most parts the break because of faults.
