Gutted

I am feeling sick, gutted and fed up(I would use another word but that would be wrong lol).
I have just had a accident and there is damage.
I was coming onto a slip road and then the transit van in
front just slammed his brakes on.Dont know why but hey.I slammed mine on but still went under him. No damage to the van.
Before you all start I know its my fault I ran into him etc.
Just gutted. Praying that the insurance company is understanding!!!!
If some shows me how I will post some pictures(there is only two sorry.)
Going to go gas myself in the oven now.
I cant live without her.
Just to make things worse the insurance will probally give me a micra hire car. How can I show my face in one of those.

Update :
Insurance have said front damage not drivable will mean total loss.........Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooo

Its only the bumper pushed back.

will continue with the updates.

there's arent many gtv's on the road, and now there's one less

buy her back and fix her. you know she deserves your love, after all it is your fault she's hurt, its the least you can do.

everytime I read something like this makes me think I'd just cough up and not inform insurers... they seem to too quickly write a car off unlucky

Re: Gutted

well not only is it the bumper also the bonnet and I think the oil cooler has had it as well.
Good news its not a micra.....a polo 14oo thing.
I hate it.
The insurance are looking at it on monday or tuesday.
sending the rac out to see whats to be done.
What are my options?
I dont want to lose her.
so gutted
from what they were saying on the phone it doesn't look good.
do they still go off book price?
cause the book price is no where near what you could get a similar one for.

Thanks for the support.

Sorry to here about your accident but remember, it's only a car, a car can be replaced, you/other people can't.

Re: Gutted

Sorry to hear about that! I had the opposite in May when someone hit me in rear - I was worried about car being written off also. My car needed a new rear bumper, bootlid, rear panel, trim and rear end repaint.

My advice - Take it to a body shop of your choice and tell them that you want it repaired. Call insurance company and tell them where it is and that the inspector should visit the body shop, they will have prepared a repair estimate for him. Worked for me.

Start looking in the car adds etc for cars similar to your own, print out / copy any adds you find for a similar car and the insurance company should pay out what the market value is for the car.

Re: Gutted

still no further news off the insurance company, apart from that they are saying it is total loss. How can they say that without looking at her.
Anyway been down to the recovery garage where the car was taken and I am not happy.
1. the oil filler cap has just diassapeared off the engine.
2. where it is parked in the locked compound they have rolled another car into the back of her.
3.Noticed some scuffs on the back bumper now.

Not happy.
they the garage have just shugged there shoulders and said its not there problem. can you believe them.
Tried to make out that the scuffs were there before.
Then said dont worry about it as the insurance would write it off anyway. Do they know something I dont.
Not happy anyway. So now more damage.

Someone will pay............

Re: Gutted

well it as been 10 days now and I still dont know whats going to happen to the GTV.I keep getting fobbed off with the insurance company, and when I complain they cut me off!!!!
My gut is still telling me it will be written off......anyway at this rate there will be nothing left on it as things started to dissapear off her after the recovery garage had her.

Will keep you informed if anything else happens this decade.

If they keep messing you about threaten them with the insurance ombudsman - they will then behave a little bit more reasonably.

Do you have legal protection on your policy - see what they say.

There was a women in work who had her Mini cooper written off and it took ages for them to sort her payment out, around 8 - 10 weeks which is crazy as it was a non-fault accident and she has full comp.

There excuse was that they were waiting for the other guys details - full comp makes no difference, it means covered for all eventuallities.

TAke your case to the ombudsman - you do not deserve to be treated like that.

Re: Gutted

it is some times better to take it to your own bodyshop.

I had a Mk1 MR2 a few years back that a freelander backed into.
Insurance sent me to the Local approved place (VW) He looked at it and said i dont think they will pay for it to be fixed mate.

(The car was spotless! Red, no rust, brand new Corrola wheels, leather seats looked like they were fresh from the showroom etc)

Took it to a friends bodyshop, he said it needed a new wing, door strightening and all respraying.

insurance said it was a write off from VW's quote.

My friends bodyshop quote just about £100 under the cut off! it got fixed

Re: Gutted

update

after constant phone calls I have a result..........
She is gone. Total loss. Now I am really gutted.
New Bonnet
New bumper
new Rad
New Aircon thingy???
Chasis twisted
New oil cooler
Finch thingys need sorting...

they were things I understood what they were going on about.
Cost of repair was more than the car was worth.

Reluncltley I have settled on a agreed figure after some stern discussions with the engineers and insurance company.

I am basically left with just over £3000 to replace her, after excess and the rest of my insurance premium is paid up.

God I am [email protected]@@ed off.

Perhaps I should get a 156 V6 as it would be more family user friendly.
Could I get a decent one for that?

Sorry to hear that it has been decalred a total loss - be wary of getting another GTV as it will never be like the one you lost.

156 2.5 sounds like a good plan
