Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

What a car. Can you believe it's been around for 10 years now. I love mine to pieces, I really do. I still think it one of the best looking cars on the road today. The twin spark engines are still one of the most powerful engines. (I'm talking BHP/CC ratios) The sound of these engines is second to none for 4 pots. Stunning.

And let's not forget that wonderful V6 engine. This is what converted me to the alfa mark. My missus dad took me out for a spin in his 98 V6 and my god did it make me smile.

I saw a friend the other day that I hadn't seen in about 4 years. The first thing he said to me was, you have an Alfa Romeo 156. I'm so jealous. (Boy did I smile)

Happy 10 Year Anniversary "Uno cinque sei"!

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

Agree, one of the greats, although I have to say I prefer the look of the facelift 156. Great combination of the sleek 156 look with the new Alfa "corporate" look (which I really like).

Without the 156 I think Alfa might have ceased to exist before we got to the happy state we have today that a resurgent Fiat appears to be doing interesting things with the marque.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

so... happy birthday 166

Alfa was on a roll in 1998, wasn't it? 145 and 146, 156, 166, GTV, Spider. I prefer all of these to the modern ones. I must be turning into an old git!

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

I was in my 147 yesterday, following a 156, I looked at the 156 and thought - how good is that for an 'R' plate car (condition and looks).

I am on my third 156 and I love it, even though this one is a TS It is a very good all rounder that still looks good and is reletively inexpensive to buy.

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

happy anniversary 156 i think it's genuinely one of the all time greatest designs of any mass-market car, if not of ANY kind of car

a 4 door saloon for ordinary money that still turns heads 10 years after its debut? it could only be an alfa

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

Have to agree with all points. I will keep buying the 156 till I can afford the 159, im on my second at the moment. Have a look at the cars that where designed 10 years ago and how they have dated. The Alfa 156 still does turn heads even to this day. Its like my Gran always used to say trends come and go but style never goes out of fashion. Happy Birthday 156 still going strong!

Happy birthday indeed! I love my 156, and so does everyone who's seen it. Can't really ask for very much more from a car can you?

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

I was just thinking the same, was following a silver one the other day, still thought "wow that still looks stunning".

Had 2 Alfa 156's in my time, the 1st phase, and the later 2004 onwards car.

Loved the very positive feel through the steering, both cars could be made to dance through the corners...loved them.

Had one of my ex girlfriends in my first 156 (car was about 7/8 years old at the time)...she says "I can't believe it, a brand new car and the writing on the gear knob is coming off already", I replied with "its about 8 years old!, and done 80k miles"....she couldn't believe it! hehe

It's such a sleek design, still feel the urge to buy another "just in case".

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

I like mine so much that I don't want to replace it with a 159.. I don't quite see the 159 appeal compared to the 156.

Re: Happy Ten year anniversary 156.

my 156 is 9 years and 1 month old now, and its still got years of reliable motoring left in it, drives mint and looks very well for its age. it doesnt even look that dated imo.

i regularly drive newer cars, but they very rarely compare to my 156. for example this week i did 500 miles in a 2004 passat tdi (company car). what a heap of crap, i cant even begin to list its shortcomings. it felt so good getting back in the 156 last night.
