147 mpg readout display query??

Can anybody offer me any advice on this one, i have had my 147 1.6 TS Lusso for about two weeks now. I cant fault the car it is spot on and really nice to drive..Excuse my excitement this is my first Alfa..

I filled her and reset the digital computer to see what sort of MPG's i could get out of her...now the readout says im averaging 20 mpg!! now i will not be able to tell how acurste it is until i have used the tank and compared how many miles i have done

My worry is that i dont want 20mpg to be acurate!!! are the computers not very acurate or is 20mpg normal for a staedily driven 147.???

Cheers
Tony

PS: if it turns out i am only getting 20mpg what could be wrong its only done 37K...just been MOT'd and serviced when i bought it??

The trip computer is accurate, at least mine is. And they are.
Doing 14L/100km is a lot, but can be done if you drive realllyyy fast.

Something could be wrong. But what kind of driving have you been done? Just city?

Mine seems fairly accurate,i am getting high 30's on a long run (200 miles+) down the A1,and low 30's on the short blast to work. And i don't half abuse the loud pedal

I think yours is rather frugal though, I'm averaging about 27 with just normal town driving, when I boot it I average about 20-22

Re: 147 mpg readout display query??

27 mpg seems a little closer to what i am getting..but mine still is very low..any common problems?

Just one other question the black plastic guard under the front bumper which are prone to getting damaged..is that called a front wing splash guard?
Also does the 147 have any sump guard fitted as standard?
