Hmmm snapped timing belt

hi folks,can you help.
i have a 166 v6 24v,1999,
belt has snapped,got the heads of and most of the work done,and i am looking to see if you can get round useing the alfa camshaft locking tool,is there another way to lock the four camshafts in there exact positions to fit a new belt,
also.....
looking to buy a cam belt tentioner and water pump for less than dealer prices,jeez there dear... .

Sorry to hear that!

I've a vague feeling Alfashop in Norwich used to hire them out. When I did the head on my wife's 156 T'spark after a belt failure, they used to lend them free to anyone who bought all the repair bits from them.

is the nothing that can be made up? to hold it in the correct position?

not really, you do not have the advantage of taking off the old belt and making sure nothing moves either. EB spares also hire them out when you buy the cambelts off them for a small deposit. I got my stuff from Alfashop as above, water pump was about £75, insist on having one with a metal impeller rather than the cheaper plastic ones.

Also make sure you do the cam belt bearings as well as they are also responsible for many a failure too, about £25 each.
