Mooney alfa 166,snapped timing belt

hi folks,had a few alfas in my days from alfa 90,s and 75. to a few 164 and 166,s ,and even treated myself to a new 156 jts last year,never thought till tonite to join the alfa forum...
so you could say am a little bit of a alfa fan
now had my fair share of problems over the years like you do with alfas but never had a snapped timing belt before till the other day on my 166 2.5,v6 (run around),now being a compitent guy with a spanner i am going to repair it myself .

but my problem lies with the fact i dont have a camshaft locking tool,is there a way round this to set up the four cams in there correct possitions?( i have the heads off and all necessary work done)
and can some one recommend a place to get a cambelt tenstioner for less than 107+ VAT and a water pump

Testing the water Darren! You can't ignore cambelt changes - Don't convince yourself that the 19000 miles means that there is still 40000 or so left in that belt - It was changed 7 years ago!

Re: alfa 166,snapped timing belt

Sorry to read about your trouble. I don't want to be pessimistic but are you sure the snapped belt is the only damage? What about piston head / valve interference, i.e. bent valve stem(s)?

Damn, you have my cards marked!

That one's been sold now anyway, but if I bought it I would have got the belts done straight away anyway.

No, fairly sure I'm not anyway,

If you have a problem with me posting something to do with a separate thread that ALSO has something to do with cambelt failure then just say, but I can't see why you would.

OR, you were just being light hearted, in which case;
No, fairly sure I'm not anyway,
