GTV V6 TB engine data

Hi,

Greetings to everyone here.
Sorry for starting a new thread immediately but I couldn't find a similar one.
I own a TB which now puts down 220 hp and 255 lbs/ft on the wheels at 18,4 psi. I want to move up to 20-22 psi but for that I need to know experiences with these boost figures from others and/or data about the factory pistons and con rods.
Thank you,
Gábor

Re: GTV V6 TB engine data

Thank you, it's a great site.
I know that quite a few companies produce forged pistons and rods which I could buy but I want to keep the factory ones with the bigger boost.
So actullay, the question is if stock internals can bear 20-22 psi. (I have enough fuel with the 24V injectors so that won't be a problem.)

Quality parts aren't cheap...
But I don't want to buy new ones right now. Perhaps later on...

Re: GTV V6 TB engine data

Whats the standard boost out of interest?
I'd guess about 1 BAR/14.5 PSI sort of region??

A mate of mine had a Porsche 944 Turbo that ran upto 2 BAR/29 PSI quite easily and was very reliable without any major mods

External wastegate (Tial 38 mm) with a 18,4 psi spring.

0,9 - 1,1 bar -> 13,2 - 16,2 psi

Hi Ollah,

Can you give a little more detail as to what you have done to your turbo. Where did you get the dump valve from and did you fit it yourself etc etc

Thanks

10 psi standard I thought, more when the overboost kicks in, thats what it says in the technical manual, have you changed your turbo as i thought the wastegate was internal on these, if not how do you change it? Nice to see another turbo member

Re: GTV V6 TB engine data

I thought the rods would be the same as the 3.0 V6, just the pistons being smaller bore. - if it's the case then they're good for 330hp via the Autodelta 3.7 conversion.
Think someone has had the 2.0 V6 block/liners modified to accept the pistons from a 3.0 - used to be on the sportsalfa forum

Hi,

Mods:
- Garrett "S" Trim T3/T4
- custom manifold & exhaust
- Tial 38mm ext. wg
- 3.0 24V injectors
- 600*300*100 FMIC
- remap (including 1.25 bar -> 18,4 psi throughout the rev range)
I think that's all...
The turbo came with an internal wg, so the wg's hole was welded shut and the external one was welded on the manifold. Either the spring in the wg or a (manual) boost controller is needed to set the boost. I have a 18.4 psi spring so I don't need an mbc.
It was done by a mechanic, I don't know too much about cars.
I bought the Tial wg here in Budapest though "e-bay is your friend".

It was Fabio.
Thank you for the infos. I'm not sure which direction to go now:
increased boost or bigger cams or... (I also heard TB internals are good to about ~300 hp but I don't know what boost they can handle. And if raising boost makes sense at all...)
