2.4 JTD cambelt

Chaps

I have rebuilt the engine and have come "Embarrassingly" a little unstuck with the cambelt....

As I done a full rebuild I simply snipped the belt as opposed to marking it up... now that its all back together I have set the head to TDC No.1 on the markers and have put piston number 1 to almost bang on TDC thinking I'll align with the crank marker.... which there isn't one!

I have a tool for the JTD but for it to fit how it suggests will keep my head on TDC but the crank will definitely be out! Therefore Im a little wary of this as just spent a fortune in parts making my engine bomb proof

Bought an ISO file which doesnt bl**Dy work...

Has anyone got diagrams or can help with the JTD cambelt???

Cheers

Graham

Re: 2.4 JTD cambelt

I think what Padder's link above suggests is that the belt has 2 lines on it. Step 1 is to line up the top mark with the cam pulley mark, which in turn is lined up to the mark on the engine...
The bottom line on the belt needs to meet the mark on the crank pulley - i.e. the crank pulley mark doesn't line up with any mark other than the 2nd line on the new belt.

Have I got it right?
