Would this work for timing

Hi All

Would the following work.

I have new cams which have timing of 110/110 and i have cam locks for 109/109

Could i put cam locks on and then change each cam in turn to 110 with crank locked at TDC

If its ok , Is 1 degree on the crank the same as 1 degree on the cam (using a degree disc)
Or is it just better for me to set it up to 110deg without locks

1 degree at the crank is 0.5 degree at the cam. IE 1 full rotation of the cams for 2 of the crank, on all 4-stroke engines.

i will forget the locks then , cant be messing about with .5 a deg i will end up cross eyed

maybe ask the manufacturer what would happen if you leave them on 109
Maybe not a lot of loss or maybe even some gain
I have AHM cams an they have 107/107 timing

That is an idea it will not hurt asking, But its no real problem setting them up to 110 i think its just being lazy


Also anyone know what the stock 3.0 v24 cam degree timing is ?

Would it not work to set the crank 2deg before TDC with the camlocks in? That should give -1 degree at the cams, so 110.

Yes that would work , your not just a pretty face

As a after thought i think i would have to set 2 cams 2 btdc and 2 atdc
