147 Service due & cambelt change

Hi All

I have a 54-reg 147 2.0 TS manual with 26k miles on the clock. It is due it's annual service, first MOT and (because its coming up to 3 years old) cambelt change. I have just been quoted 830 by an Alfa main dealer - ouch! Does this seem reasonable for a 'major' service, MOT & belt change? Any recommendations for better value Alfa servicing in the Guildford/Surrey area?

Thanks

A

Find a good independent? Dealers are largely going to be very expensive, and by going to an independent you get quality work much cheaper, and it won't affect warranty or anything.

You could give these guys a call Rusper Alfa Romeo - The Alfa Romeo Specialists on the Surrey/Sussex Border
ive never used them personally but they might be worth a try.

Rusper are excellent, serviced the JTD there and the twinny will be the next to be serviced, they are honest, reliable, friendly and honestly priced, they know a hell of alot about all Alfa cars, they also do a lot of work for AROC including restoration so they must be good at what they do! strongly recommend them!

Re: 147 Service due & cambelt change

You can also get a good will contribution from Alfa if you phone customer services as your car was supposed to change the cam-belt at 72K and not 36K so they have a liability which they must account for because your car was initially purchased in 2004 and the new guide-lines came out in 2007, I got £190 + VAT from them as a good-will contribution, I strongly reccomend you do the same! Keep us updated and good luck!

Re: 147 Service due & cambelt change

Thanks for everyones responses to this, I didn't realise there are so many independents out there! I've had the work done by AHM in Hartley Witney in Hampshire, very happy with the service & pricing, even though I needed 2 new rear tyres to get through the (first) MOT.

Cheers
