more cambelt failures
My 156 1.9 jtd has just snapped it's cambelt,it's a 53 plate 51000 miles full alfa service history, bought from an alfa franchise 3 months ago.
I've been advised by the dealer and trading standards to take the car to an alfa franchise to have it inspected (which i have to promise to pay for)if it's deemed to be a faulty belt then alfa might make a good
will payment (ha ha ) towards the cost.
My options seems to be take the moral high ground and fight this as the car was serviced just before i bought it and the belt isn't meant to be changed until 72000 miles.
Get a replacement engine.
Get the car stripped and repaired at an independent garage.
any advice from anyone who's been in this situation would be much appreciated.
One of the sad things for me about this story is i thought i was being wise moving from a 155 t spark which i ran for 9 years and thought it was starting to cost too much to keep it going to the 156 thinking as it's a newer model it'll be better but in 3 months it's going to cost me more then the 155 did in 9 years, how wrong i was.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
