cam belt!!

Hi all just signed up today so a big hello to everyone.
I brought a 147 in January loving it by the way.
It has nearly reached 38K with an MOT and service due in the next two weeks and i wanted to have the cam belt changed at the same time. Does anyone know what a good quote would be for the cam belt to be changed.

Re: cam belt!!

Approximately £300 indie, (not including the variator) double that at least, for dealership, unless you are blessed.:

nick
if you know a good mechanic then get it done by him . other wise a alfa dealer will charge a arm and leg , but you need to get it done asap.

https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/gener...endations.html

probably a really clumsy link

anyway, the point is there is a thread detailing good, reliable and recommended independent Alfa workshops

have a read - search for your county - maybe there is one nearby

Re: cam belt!!

Don't stop at just the belt. You need the idlers and tensioner too. While you are there, the balancer belt (2 litre TS) etc, and might as well do the aux belt while it's all off.

You just don't know the history of the car and the cost is are high if the cam belt/idlers give up on you as you'll have found from other threads.

My local specialist seems to be a cost benchmark for Alfa Romeo servicing and cam belt changes

See if you can get your specialist to price match?
