Erm.............why?

Cambelt failure isn't an exact science as there are so many factors that can cause it to fail. So rather than play chicken with it get it changed properly, ie belt, tensioner, idlers blah blah blah.

If you are playing 'chicken', then exactly what he said.. Don't risk it, certainly 65k should see a change.

I've just done mine, the water pump started failing so it was a one stone two birds kinda thing; mine was at 65.3k

Re: 156 2.5 v6 cam belt

I`ve left it once to 72K, once to 70K and once to 60K. Another one due in 20K ! (at 60K)

HOWEVER, I drive quite a few miles and most of them are long journeys with a nice warm engine. Thats a belt cahnge evry two years(ish). If I didn`t do the miles so quickly I would be more cautious, i.e if it took me three years to do them I`d change at 50K just to be sure. Hope that makes sense!

Had the belt changed on my V6 at 63,000miles - and that was too late! Cost me around 700 but money well spent! Don't chance it!

Yeah that sounds about right - get the 3.0 V6 water pump from the Spider - bit more hard wearing and get them to wack that on as well !
