Re: V6 Aux belt / tensioners change

Auxiliary belt is dead easy.

remove offside wheel and forward mudguard.(the plastic wheel arch bit)

Locate the auxiliarry belt looped around the aircon compressor alternator etc and find the tensioner.

Have as nail or other suitable metal pin to put through the tensioner holes when lined up.Put spanner on tesioner and take strain off and place pin to hold in place when the holes align.

Remove belt...replace new beplt in same orientaion.
Release tension and pin.
Replace arch and wheel.
Hry presto job done.

and change the pulleys too!
Be careful with torqueing up pulleys and tensioner - that alu alloy engine block is dead soft.
Take a photo of belt to help rereoute new one - can be a bit of a brainer to work out!!

Thanks Crispie...I forgot this part too but its was over 2 years ago I last did it.I was amazed how easy they came out.Expected to put in a lot of torque BUT as you say no need to overtighten just try to guage the torque required to loosen.Yep if you forget how it came off it takes a bit of working out.A picture is a brilliant safeguard.

Thanks folks - I'll give it a crack. Where is the best place to buy a belt / tensioner / idlers kit? I've had a good old Google and didn't turn anything up.

Cheers.

CF You could try your local motor factors. The best deal when I got mine was off of Stevie at Alternative autos .Try a search for that in the search facility and you'll get his details.
