Auxillary Belt won't fit!

Hi,

Over the weekend I managerd to change the Variator, timing belt etc....now at the very end I am stuck.

I cant get the Aux bellt back on. I loosened the tensioner put on the belt and tried to get the tensioner back in it's little slot.

3 hours later it still won't work for me. What is the secret!

I have a 146 1.4 l TS from 2000 with no air con

Thanks

Patrick

Re: Auxillary Belt won't fit!

Bolt the tensioner in place, the thread the belt over the other pulleys. You then need a 15mm spanner on the upper part of the tensioner. You then use this to turn the top part anti clockwise against spring pressure, once it has moved around 90º the belt should go over.

This was covered quite recently, either in this or the 156 section.

Simon.
