I am having some work done under warranty on my 2003 147 Lusso.
I bought it from a dealer a month ago with a limited 12 month Alfa warranty.
The car has got the dreaded Variator rattle and creaking suspension.
If they repair these faults I presume they will need to take off the cambelt to replace the variator so I think it would be a good time to replace this as well as the car has done 39000.
I don't think they would replace this on the warranty so I was thinking of asking them to fit a new belt on reassembly.
Bearing in mind they would be putting the belt back anyway how much do you think would be a reasonable price to pay?
Any advice appreciated
This work (Cambelt etc) should have been done at 36,000 or three years (I think), and as an Alfa Dealer selling this car with an Alfa warranty they should be aware of this.
Find out the history, if it has one, and take it from there.
If it has been done before no need to do it again at YOUR expense.
If not, WHY not? "Car sold not not of mearchantable quality and unfit for purpose".
Go screw them Andy! They should not sell you a car at dealer prices that recently needed a cambelt doing
You could make the same argument for the susp. bushes. They should NOT have sold it with those faults.
If they wish to pursue a claim on their warranty package that is OK, but NO WAY should you pay for it.
Take the mechs. a crate of beer at Yuletide (or Christmas) and they
will love you anyway!
