Crazed Engine management light Ecu problem Car losing power

156 Sportwagon selespeed 2 litre petrol.
Engine management light came on few months ago car started hunting whilst idle. had diagnostics test told me oil dripping onto lamba sensor was the problem.
Had the leak fixed EML came on again car still hunting whilst idle or been driven its now started losing power and in the last few days misfiring.
Had another diagnostic test and the ecu will not communicate with the diagnostic tool.
Any advice appreciated.

Re: Engine management light Ecu problem Car losing power

Could be all kinds of problems. Air mass sensors and throttle motors are favourites. Could be head gasket or mechanical prob.

Re: Engine management light Ecu problem Car losing power

Thanks
Had head gasket checked said it was ok . MOT passed emissions they said no lamba sensa fault or it would have failed, also had new spark plugs.
Ecu wont communicate since diagnostic test he took the EML off but said might come back on. It did go off and came back on shortly afterwards.

The only tool I know of that really talks to these cars is the Fiat examiner. Quite a few of the independent specialists now have these, find one local to you and get it checked.
The light on my car comes and goes, it drives fine so I ignore it!

Unplug the MAF and try it. It the misfire goes away, then you need a new one. You will need some security hex sockets or you might be able to use a set of big pliers or mole-grips to get the screws out.
