Alfa V6 24V engine cold start ticking noise

Here you go, a 138.000km driven V6 engine. Cambelt including all tensioners and waterpump changed at 108.000km.

Particular noise occurs nearly always with cold engine. After the engines warms up, the noise is gone. Inside the car it sounds like ticking (just like pressing the fast forward button on the cd-player).

Diagnose is a defected cambelt tensioner assy. The worn bearing of the tensioner makes the noise! Anyone else with same noise? This concerns all V6 24V engines (156 &166 etc.) If the tensioner fails; you know what time it is!

From your description it sounds like the hydraulic tappets may have drained of oil, mine does the same however this never lasts longer than a minute and always clears.
