Oil leak and engine

As I was driving home the other night, I swerved into some gravel. Not thinking anything of it drove on. Stopped to fill up with petrol and noticed that a great deal of oil was leaking from the sump. Stone must of caught it. Had driven for about 15 miles. Took it to my nearest garage, another 5 miles. He has repaired the sump with chemical metal sealer, put new oil (Selenia). drove it this morning and the engine doesn't sound right? Drove fine for 3 miles home. Any ideas what couold be and how to fix it?

Re: Oil leak and engine

No good news from me. Last time I saw a broken sump on a QV 145 it ended with knackered main shaft bearings because of lack of oil pressure in the sump.

It does sound like you have done some damage to the bottom end of the engine. They don't like being run low on oil, and if your sump is damaged there is a good chance that has happened.
I know its a bit late to say this, but you shouldn't really have driven it.

Re: Oil leak and engine

What kind of noise is it? Grinding/Grating isn't so good.. rattle or knock might be some vibration not related to the sump at all.
