Alfa 166 ts Sump v 156 ts Sump

Hopefully there will be someone knowlagable on here that will be able to tell me what the differeances between the two sump pans are? and if these differences relates to accomodating the chassis cross-member or some other reason? Previous posts have noted that you can't use the 156 ts sump on a 166 (or the other way around), but why?

The driveshaft centre bearing support carrier is different, they don't fit.

The 166 TS driveshaft would not engage with the 156 TS gearbox, the 166 TS uses a variation of the tougher V6 family gearbox due to the extra weight of the car.
