My 156 2.0 TS from 2000 has covered 34,500 miles. The guy I bought it off hadn't realised that the cam belt needs changing at 36,000 miles/3yrs, as he hadn't been keeping up to date with it. I have it booked in for a change on the 10th Sept. My question is, will it be okay to drive until then? Should I not rev it too much or not bother driving it at all?
Should be safe enough to drive.People are starting to get paranoid about these cambelts.Does everyone now think that as soon as you hit 36,001 miles the belt automatically snaps?I know people who went to the original 72,000 with no problems, and also know of a 147 that snaped its belt at 23,000!Perhaps we should all lock our cars in the garage then no belts would ever break and Alfa's reputation would be restored
Yeah, but i drove mine for a few weeks till it was done, tried to keep the load off the engine, once it was done you can enjoy the car with (a bit ) of piece of mind, mind you my fuel economy was fantastic before the belt change!!!
