1. get engine stripped.
2. buy another engine
3. or just sit in a corner and cry !!!!!!!

best option is to find out where the oil is leaking from, then you know what the cost will be. could be headgasket, piston ring or valve guide, repair costs will vary widely depending on where you go and what the cause is. i wouldnt recommend a different engine unless you really need to, you never know what you're getting when you buy a used engine so its always a bit of a lottery.

do a compression test, dry first, then wet, that will tell you if its the piston ring (pressure increase when wet) or not.

Hi I have a question when u change the motor and transmission out of it and put different motor and transmission out of other 156 twin spark same every thing do u have to reprogram everything because when I changed the transmission out of it it had to get recalibrated

thanks jug. ive cleaned spark plugs of gunk and put back in and engine firing properly again so could that mean its just a valve stem seal or guide if that means the same thing. hopefully if its a valve thing it shouldnt be too hard or expensive to get fixed as i am not very mechanically gifted in the knowledge dept.

ps nice looking pic of your alpha by the way
