engine hot.........

is it normal for engines to run hot on the 156's?

fan is kicking in quite a bit

How old is your car? Has if ever had a radiator replaced? If not, thats probably the problem.

But, check coolant and oil levels just to be sure, remember if you aren't doing already these are items to check weekly on the TS.

i dont think the radiator has been replaced although im not 100% sure. its going in for a new cambelt/water pump soon so i'll ask them to check the radiator as well

Where are you taking it? I bought mine on eBay for £100, its about £230 or if you use genuine Alfa parts. Dealer will want 2.5 hours for fitting it (only 2 if you have no air-con). I paid £50 cash for fitting

Yeah, the T-sparks use a bit of oil, it is how the engine is designed. If your "oil low" warning light ever comes on its already too late, damage is done.

well ive provisonally booked it in with Alfa but im going to shop around this weekend and try and get it cheaper.

the oil is at the first dimple on the dipstick, so it needs some in tomorrow

Have you looked at the temp gauge? If you have aircon, the condenser sits in front of the engine-radiator. When ac is on on a hot day it turns the fan on and off quite often.
