Check Your Engine! Local Dealer Flooded

Hello all, wondering if you can help as my dealer can't.

159 JTDM SW 7000 miles, Flexxilease car - started it this AM and got the above error message, amber engine light stays on. First time this has happened, though it's been darn wet where I live (near Gloucester).

Seems to drive fine - flew up the M50 and M5 this morning to work in Worcester. Dropped car off in Worcester Alfa dealer, Hyltons, before work. Got a call 13:15 to say the road to the dealer was going to be closed (as the Severn is very close) so I'd have to collect (no other way to get home).

Thing is, the strife needs the car for a trek down to Surrey/Sussex tomorrow, for a few days, and can't take the other car (Freelander) because it runs like a dog after Friday's wading!

So, question is, can she use it (as it drives fine) or do I get on the bone to Flexxilease? Grateful for help, thanks.

What exactly is the error message

"Check Your Engine - Return To Dealer"

If it says return to service centre, then do so and don't drive it.

As a newbie Alfa owner I had to ask - I don't know how paranoid the CPUs are but I guess if it says check the engine I'd better get it to a dealer. Oh, and my cruise control has packed up too (a few weeks back now). I'll add to the poll after the dealer's sorted...

Flexxilease tell me I can drive it on the amber, but be concerned if it turns red! That's when I need to get it to a dealer. Frankly I can't take that risk as the strife's using it, and is transporting our 4 month-old daughter down the M4... I also don't need her grief.
