How long till the engines warmed up?

Probably covered elsewhere but i can't find it!
How long should it take for a 2.0 TS to warm up,mine seems to take about 20-25 mins to reach 90 degrees, then settles around there or creep a bit above, reason i'm asking is my headgasket woes continue,or do they?
Found some mayo in the filler cap today, but the car had only been used for a few stop starts round town,so hopefully it's condensate.
But do think my thermostat may be stuck open.

Before having my thermostat replaced it would never go above 70 unless idling, so it doesnt sound like yours is stuck open if it is getting up to 90, unless your car is less efficient at cooling than ours

You beat me to it. I was gonna say mine would take until September to warm up (when I put a new thermostat in)

Should be up to 90-ish in under 5 minutes.

My 2.0 is warm by the time I get to work if the heaters are off (about 5 miles) And still at 70 if its cold and the heaters are on full.

Before new stat it took about six weeks!

I think thats a wise choice guys its not a good idea running a car without one as it causes surges of cold water from the pump around the bores and could crack them!

I think your a bit mistaken as with the thermostat stuck open all the water in the system is being cooled (by passing though the rad) and heated (by passing though the engine) thats why they don't heat up unless stationary.Running without a thermostat wastes fuel and increases engine wear (because oil isn't getting hot enough).

With the symtoms decribled I would say change radiator and themostat.

If you suspect your head gasket have a compression check done and a pressure check done on coolant system.

Should warm up to a decent temperature (for demisting etc.) within a few minutes. If it takes 25 mins, I'd suggest the 'stat is stuck open.
