Questions regarding new Cambelt
I've just got my 156 2.0 TS Facelift back from the dealers and have had the 60 000km service done. I'm quite happy with everything (they did the cambelt, balance shaft belt, tensioners etc). Incidently they supplied me with the old parts and I noticed that the old tensioner was made of metal. The belts and tensioners still looked like new.
I am a little irritated though because they say they just checked the auxiliary belt and did not replace it.
I've read on this forum that the 2.0 litre TS engine has a cover protecting the cambelt if the Aux belt fails but I'm not sure. Does anyone know this for definite?
Another thing, my friend went to buy a cambelt for a friends 156 and the spares dept asked him if he wants the new belt. Apparently this belt is a new one that has steel braided into it. Does anyone know about this?
The total cost for the service came to 383 pounds (R5372) which included a new set of rear brake pads.
