Wave Okay Here goes. ABS, Indicator and Knocky Engine

First Hello.

Second the only problems with the 146 I have just got.

ABS Light is on, all the time. its a 2000 X reg. 1.6 16Valve Twin Spark,

Knocking Is the big end I know that much but Can new shells be inserted easily and where can i get them from in Newcatle cheaply.

and last but more important in a way. the hazzard lights button does not work as do the indicators. If i press the hazzard button and then the indicators left or right the indicator flashes quicly on one side or the other, depending on what way i indicate. is this a common problem.

can anyone help.

is superman out there. and does he like fixing alfas quickly and cheaply in newcastle upon Tyne.

Big-End shells are fairly straightforward, just snap in. Mains are a little more fiddly, need a mushroom headed, (shaped nail will do) cut short too length, and then inserted into the oil drilling, prior to rotating the crankshaft. The ground down head of the nail/rivet, must be less than the thickness of the shells. This will force the top shell out. Fitting new is the reverse, engage new top shell, mushroom head pushes it into place, whilst rotating the crankshaft. I suppose this bit of info. is not required, as you are just doing the Big-Ends.:

My 146's ABS light comes on when my brake light bulbs go! Once i replace a spent bulb it solves the problem. I didnt even know i had ABS until the light came on! I drove around for weeks with it lit until i spotted a bulb out when my wife drove away from the house and i replaced it as a matter of course and that fixed it - weird!

Can I share my experience of just changing the shells without regrinding the crank?

The shells lasted all of 10 minutes.

Exactly, if the shells have gone there's a reason...probably need a crank regrind which means the engine has to come out.

ABS light...perhaps one of the wheel sensors is nackered???
