Well Happy engine number vin number reg number

Swapping engine from 155 to 156 PROBLEM the 155 vin doesn't add up with the car type or reg. local alfa dealer says its an alfa 1.8 sport according to the vin. The vin from the 155 is ZAR167000 01045549. The reg of car (155) is P896 RAE and is 2l 16v twin spark and that adds up. Unless someone had a prang and changed the front landing panel (I think its called) where vin is on (as just unbolts) this is the only insight to this problem, as both engine numbers (155 &156) are the same M64719 60600101 47B but according to alfa they cant tell difference from that engine numbers
Everything has changed over no problem so leads us to think (also by engine numbers) it is the same 2.0L 16V Twinspark....BUT can anybody tell me if there is a big difference in telling between 1.8 and 2.0 twin spark engine, fittings and ancillaries etc? or shed any more light on this PLEASE.

According to ePER, the vin number you give is for a 1.8 TS 155 Sport. Engine no. 00243899, Engine type AR67106, vehicle no. 00172057.

Hope this is of some use.

I'm not really understanding this am I? Are you trying to find out witch engine you have?

If its a 2.0 it will also have the aux belt with the cambelt. The 1.8 doesn't have this.

Balance Shaft Belt.

They all have aux belts. Only the 2.0 16v TS has balance shafts.

One of them has the wrong engine in already then!
The 150bhp 155 engine is: 672.04
The 155bhp 156 engine (Euro2) is: 323.01
The 150bhp 156 engine (Euro3) is: 323.10

155 certainly has the old style engine according to sensors and the 156 had definetly its original. If alfa can't tell the difference then

At least its the 2.0l 16v twinspark no doubt there now.
