Air filter pipe to engine...

Afternoon All...

Alfa newbie so please forgive any ramblings...

I have recently got hold of a '98 GTV 2.0TS.

Noticed over the weekend that the plastic pipe from the air filter 'bin' to the engine has a crack in it and 'duct tape' wrapped around it - on the horizontal straight part of the pipe.

The crack is only small and is well wrapped with duct tape and is therefore air tight and all seems to be working fine... because of this would you say it was an urgent fix?

If I was to get this pipe replaced, anyone know what this part is actually called[?!] and approx how much it'd cost? and finally is it an easy repair?

Had a brief look on t'internet but can't find any clues.

Cheers in advance for any help/advice

Ash

This pipe?

although yours is probably in 3 sections with a noise attenuating box in the midsection, that one is about £37 from a dealer.

Cheers, that looks like the boy...!!

Crack/tape is on the large pipe [No.11? on that diagram]

Think it's a must 'replace asap' part, as like I said, the tape seems to be air tight...

Re: Air filter pipe to engine...

It'll only get worse so I'd replace it ASAP tbh.

From experience I can tell you that once it starts to stop being airtight, it causes all kinds of undesirable side effects.
