jtd engine temp

once engine has warmed up. i have this problem.
if i load engine ,temp gauge increases to past 90c if i lift off temp reverts back to 75 to 80c. i dont know much about oil burners so any help will be appreciated. thanks
chipped or not still same and its a 03 face lift 1.9 156

Suggests thermostat stuck half open or half closed. You describe normal diesel characterisics, which should be controlled by the thermostat.

thanks for that, on warm up i can see that the thermostat opens then temp drops cos of circulation of rest of cooling system.then rests at a normal temp until i start loading engine up

Also, have a look to see if your radiator is corrorded. What you describe is pretty much exactly how mine was, and that was due to the thermo being stuck open but the rad being 50% corroded away. So it didn't get up to temp all that quick, and only upto around 70, but then give it the beans and it goes well over 90 and I have to use the interior heaters to pull heat out of the system.

my v6 was similar , so looks like new rad and stat anyone ideas on how much for parts for jtd, thanks for reply
