Lucas Octane booster

Hi, I am currently using this product in my 2004 156 Ti V6 2.5 24V. My main reason is to reduce the fuel consumption. I am now getting 270 miles around town and 340 miles on longs runs per tank. I use a bottle per tank at 9.00 per bottle.
I have been using this for the last 4 months without any negative effects.
I have also noticed an increase in power too, which is a bonus.
I have read a lot on the web about this but most seems to be misinformation.

I would be interested in comments and feedback on this.

Regards

Sean

The trouble with octane boosters is that you're spending €9 per tank, to save €5 of petrol.

On the other hand, if the car drives smoother and with more power, it's subjectively worth it.

Octane boosters does the same as using the posh petrol from Shell/Tesco/BP etc. so no problems mechanically.

Cheers, I'm saving more than 5 per tank as my previous fuel consumption was around 200 miles per tank at best. The car seems to have adjusted to the better quality fuel. The quality of fuel in Irealnd is very poor.

Thanks for the info.

200 miles per tank... suggests you could also be running too rich.

Does the car warm up (86-90C) when you're driving along, or does the temperature hover around 60-70C mark? The latter would suggest dodgy thermostat. It's worth changing if it's shot - it quickly pays for itself if it can get your mpg up to 35-36.

If your injectors are clogged/dirty the octane booster might improve things just because it will clean some of the gum out as you use it. However, if you do think your injectors might (or could use) a clean, buy some paraffin from Homebase/B&Q (sold as Turpentine Substitute.. do not use White Spirit) and run 200ml of that through the tank, every time you fill up. That would also help to keep the injectors clean.

Thanks, I'm going to get it serviced in 2 weeks and the lads is brilliant with Alfa's. My car is quiet rare as its a Ti V6 so its a keeper .
Its running really well on the Lucas Octane booster, just want to make sure there isn't any damage.

Thanks for your input and suggestions.
