Idea 164 sump gasket?

Hi guys is there any reason I can't use this sump gasket rather than using sealant on my 164 24v. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2307928908...84.m1423.l2649

I know they don't use them anymore but fitting a gasket is so much easier when doing it from under the car and stops the risk of getting sealant floating around in the oil.
I have 2 sumps 1 from my 164 and 1 from a 156 and while there are differences the profile on the meeting face on both is exactly the same bolt holes and studs.
Is there a technical reason to not use a gasket?

yes I think there is... gaskets are usually used when different metal sumps are used..

I think the sealant also helps the sump engine block become a more sturdy unit once bolted together..

the issue as you say is getting the correct amount.. but I doubt it makes a huge difference lol

Finally refitted the sump and ended up using RTV sealer so fingers crossed I got it right
