Help 147 JTD slight surging on light throttle low revs

hi all,

noticed today in the warm weather that my engine is surging very slightly on overrun and light throttle, as if the throttle has been lightly pressed on/off .., very annoying when cruising along at 30 on light throttle with the engine 'jerking' every so often..grr!! and esp when off throttle in gear - slight jerking when slow down..double grr!

I am planning on cleaning out the EGR (been a while..) and checking the vac pipes to the vnt actuator..,..but as this is on light throttle and low revs, I doubt the turbo is involved..

Could it be the TPS on the pedal itself ? or perhaps the brake pedal switch malfunctioning?

any other suggestions?

thanks

Gas flowed head, Polished valves, Port matched manifolds, New Turbo.

it seems to do it even when on cruise control. so definitely not the throttle TPS..probably an engine sensor? boost/vac pipe leaky?

Has the turbo had a good clean out?
It could be the variable vane system 'sticking' which I have been told is almost a certainty in lightly used JTDs. Joy.
Only way to find out is to whip it off and give it all a damn good clean out - apparently.

Its a relatively new turbo..less than 15k.. + the engine was rebuilt at the same time..

I'm not entirely sure if the ECU reset works on JTDs (I might try it myself) but have a look in the how to guides in the tech section on the 147/156/gt section - has to be worth a punt.

the ECU reset works a treat, but didn't help this issue. Engine pulls like a train again. funny enough - it started doing this after the reset..spooky... it did coincide with the sudden warm weather we've had (warm ish!)

I cleaned out the EGR - all was good, not too much carbon and the solenoid was free moving , I fitted a restrictor plate to reduce the amount of EGR going into the manifold, seems to be running fine if not better

Did this ever re-occur? Was it the EGR?
