I had a similar sound last year, looked on a few threads in the GTA section and it sounded like it was the cambelt tensioner, as the belt was due a change I booked it in,had the work done no more rattle, is yours due a belt change?

I had exactly the same problem on my V6 GTV after i had done my belt and tensioners a couple of years back, in the end i locked the top end back up using the cam locks just to make sure the timing was not out which it was'nt but the tensioner needed re adjusting which is done with all four cam pulley's slackened off and then adusted at the tensioner, then once the tensioner has been re tightned do each cam pulley back up, mine was fine after that, if you had the belt change done at a garage i would take it back and make them do it, they possibly did not tighten your tensioner up enough, there was rumour also that there was some faulty tensioners a while back.
