147 Diesel feeling heavy

Some days when I drive my 147 multijet it feels great, quiet, smooth fast and light.
Other days it seems pretty much as fast slightly harsh, noisier and heavy.
Fuel consumption seems to be as near to the same a I can measure.

It isn't the fuel, this week it was harsh Wednesday and OK Monday and Thursday with no intervening fill up. Sometimes it is harsh for 2 hours but smoother after a 30 minute break. I thought it was imagination for a while but I'mm more and more convinced that there is something going on.

I've wondered if it is
  • The MAF
  • EGR
  • Injectors
  • Weather
or something else entirely. It does seem happier on BP ultimate but when it runs nicely on normal it is every bit as good as on Ultimate.
Anyone got had or got a similar problem or any ideas where the problem is?

Give a man a fire and he's warm for the evening.
Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

I had this problem but with Multiscan found the correction values of one of the injectors was a bit high. Changed the injector and this has pretty much solved it.

If it is the injector why dus it run today perfect again with no change in the correction values.
0.2 /-0.5/-0.3/0.1
Any other day same correction values but run like a old ww2 diesel.

When was it last serviced? You could try a new fuel filter and some injector cleaner.

Interesting! the correction value on one of my injectors is a lot different from the others and has been for quite a while. I've been wondering if it was significant and posted a thread but didn't come to any conclusion. I'll get it looked at ASAP.
