JTD Injector removal!

Ok I'm stripping down my 156 JTD 16v - to replace the rockers as the water pump had gone south!

apart from access to the timing cover, I'm having some trouble removing the injectors - not really unexpected, but frustrating none the less

I've flushed the injectors with release oil and am waiting for some more Plus Gas - as usual when you need it it's gone and WD40 doesn't quite make it!

I anticipate the Plus Gas arriving in the next few days the with liberal application and some more patient waiting I hope to be able to dislodge the injectors.

Any tips??

Hi, just a gentle wiggling back and for with small levers or a piece of thin rope tied around the injector and then around a hammer and used like a slide hammer.

I have a mate who runs a garage and he said he sometimes just loosens off the injector clamp a few turns and give the car a blast up the road to free off a stuck injector

Update!!

The Injectors freed themselves with some gentle persuasion

taking the cam cover off showed that all 8 exhaust rockers had gone better than 16 I suppose

so time to source rockers, cam belt kit & Water Pump - and as Jon says extra flushing oil & filters

Thanks Guys

I would change all 16 incase the ones that arnt broken are bent or fractured.
The rockers for the vauxhall z19dth engine are the same although there are 2 types fitted and work out a lot cheaper that Alfa parts, I used them on a 147 I bought with a broken belt

Ok I've got some progress

all stripped down - sourced a new cam belt kit and water pump.

tracked down the missing needle bearings and cleaned up the top end with diesel and a marine detergent oil.

just waiting for the cam locking tools to arrive so I can build it up.

Ooh and yea the Vauxhall rockers are easily sourced

Cheers
