156 2,0 overheating problems

hi folks can anyone help .. 2000 156 2.0 ts
just had new radiator fitted car still overheating ..fan ok ... temp goes up then back down up then back down etc etc
there does not seem to be any water in the oil
water seems to disappear from expansion bottle then fill back up again i am at a total loss
any help please .. would be greatly appreciated

Have you bled the system properly?

When you say the temp goes up/down, what is it going up to?

What was happening before you replaced the radiator?

And by "water" I assume you really mean coolant.

I'd say an air lock is very likely if the level is erratic....
