Alfa 156 JTS engine oil pickup

Hi
Was just wondering is there any reason why JTS oil pickup hole is so small compared to TS and not to talk about V6.This how it looks on JTS https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/attac...4-dscn2083.jpg
This how it looks on TS https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/attac...per-shards.jpg
and thats from V6 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo...30683030061%26

Because JTS uses the most viscous oil of them but having the smallest pickup hole would this be a problem on cold starts where the most harm is done to our engines.
Maybe there is connection between this hole and bottom end fails.
