i own a 98 2.0 gtv and ive blown my engine, am looking for a replacement on ebay.. theres a few 2.0 ts engines on there, mainly from 156's and 147's but when i check the compatablity it says that it wont fit my car, i thought any 2.0 ts would fit tho.. am i wrong?

If yours was alloy top it is a CF1, if plastic top it is a CF2, there are plenty of CF2's from 156's that will fit, CF1's are harder to find but there are still plenty. You can fit a CF2 into a CF1 car with a few "tweeks" It can be done though.

'98 will probably be a CF2 ... same as the early 156s.

Probably, but '98 is the changeover year on the Gtv.

Your old broken engine would have cambelt covers & a flywheel though. It is better to buy the minimum you need, and not waste money on things you don't that can just be swapped over.
